S E C R E T KUWAIT 003409 SIPDIS STATE FOR NEA/ARP E.O. 12958: DECL: 07/28/2013 TAGS: MARR, MASS, PREL, KU, QA, BA, SA, MU, TC SUBJECT: KUWAIT ON SUPPORT FOR POLISH STABILIZATION FORCES REF: STATE 210590 Classified By: ADCM John G. Moran for reasons 1.5 (b) and (d) 1. (S) The Ambassador delivered reftel demarche to Foreign Minister Shaykh Dr. Mohammed Al-Sabah during their July 28 meeting (other topics septel). The FM said Kuwait had already agreed in principle to supporting Polish forces, as long as the burden was also shared by other nations. He added that Prime Minster Shaykh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah had already verbalized the GOK's intent to do so to Secretary Rumsfeld. 2. (S) Dr. Mohammed said Kuwait was in the process of conceptualizing how it could make in-kind contributions to the Poles. When asked for specifics on these plans, the FM said the GOK was considering providing catering and/or transportation services to the Polish forces. He also acknowledged that GOK contributions would go beyond such assistance in kind. JONES
