UNCLAS AMMAN 004374 SIPDIS STATE FOR NEA/PPD; NEA/IPP; E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: KPAO, JO, IIP SUBJECT: New Book Published CAIRO PLEASE PASS TO ALEXANDRIA 1. Amman is pleased to announce a new title from the Arabic Book Program. "The Best American Short Stories of the Century", edited by John Updike and Katrina Kenison was published in early July. This book is the sixty-second in an annual series by the American publisher. This edition includes one hundred stories of which ninety-nine were translated and published in the Arabic edition. Translation rights for one story could not be obtained. The book contains 1008 pages, size 17 x 24 cms., hard cover. 2. Two sample copies are being dispatched to posts for evaluation. 3. Posts can place their orders, which will be sent on first-come-first-served basis. Quantities available are fairly limited. The book will be distributed by its Jordanian publisher throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Books including shipping, ordered directly by posts for distribution to contacts, are free of charge. #GNEHM
