UNCLAS KUWAIT 002989 SIPDIS STATE FOR EB/TRA/AN JOE YOUNG E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: EAIR, IZ, KU SUBJECT: DELIVERY OF BAGHDAD COMMERCIAL AIR SERVICE NOTICE REF: STATE 193275 On July 4, Econ Couns conveyed to Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) Chairman, General Manager, and Director of Aviation Services reftel's information concerning the Office of the Coalition Provisional Authority (OCPA) notice soliciting air carriers to apply to provide scheduled passenger-only commercial air service to Iraq. KAC staff also were given a print out of the Department-provided notice as proposed for posting on the OCPA website (www.cpa-iraq.org). Staff of KAC Chairman Ahmad Faisal Al-Zabin informed Embassy on July 7 that senior KAC leadership would decide that day on whether to respond to OCPA's solicitation. JONES
