UNCLAS ABU DHABI 002983 SIPDIS DEPT FOR NEA/ARP E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: AORC, PREL, PHUM, TC SUBJECT: USG PRIORITIES AT UNGA CONVEYED TO UAEG Ref: STATE 175664 In a June 22 meeting with MFA Minstate Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's Deputy Office Director Khedaim Al-Deeri, Polchief conveyed a letter from the Ambassador to Hamdan encapsulating reftel points. Polchief asked for the UAEG's support for USG priorities at the upcoming UNGA, and expressed interest in being apprised of the UAEG's agenda. Khedaim remarked that the UAEG would give full consideration to the USG's UNGA priorities. In reviewing the information on the USG's intent to sponsor a resolution encouraging the political participation of women, Khedaim noted that this year the UAEG delegation would include five Emirati female diplomats, a marked increase from the attendance last year of only one.
