(SBU) Although Abuja is the capital city, Nigeria's OSAC Country Council is located in Lagos, the country's main commercial center. Therefore, RSO Lagos will convene the requisite meeting and report results septel. However, due to significant private sector participation in the week-long events surrounding the May 29, 2003 Presidential inauguration, Consulate Lagos may not be able to convene an OSAC country council prior to the Department's deadline. 2. (SBU) In addition to convening the OSAC Country Council at the earliest opportunity, the Ambassador will host a meeting to discuss security issues with the Managing Directors of the major American oil sector companies in the very near future. This meeting in Lagos will include representatives from the following Embassy and Consulate sections: POL, RSO, RAO, DAO, ECON, and CONS. Results will be reported septel. JETER
