1. (U) This is an action request.
2. (C) In a March 22 meeting with Ambassador, Interior
Minister Aksu requested information on six Turkish citizens
he said are being held at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. Aksu
provided names, DOBs and POBs for the detainees, as follows:
-- Murat Kurnaz; 3/19/82; Bremen, Germany (Embassy and
Consulate Istanbul initially requested information on Kurnaz
reftels).
-- Salih Uyar; 4/14/81; Kocaeli, Turkey.
-- Yuksel Celikgogus; 9/10/67; Karasu (Sakarya Province),
Turkey.
-- Ibrahim Sen; 10/1/80; Van, Turkey.
-- Nuri Mert; 9/27/71; Dogubayazit (Agri Province), Turkey.
-- Mesut Sen; 2/20/80; Brussels, Belgium.
3. (C) Embassy requests guidance on how to respond to the
inquiry, including any available information on the health
and legal status of the detainees.
