As part of its response to humanitarian needs in Iraq, the DART has provided commodities valued at approximately USD 690,000 for countrywide distribution through partner organizations. The commodities include both medical and hygiene kits; chronic medications; plastic sheeting; water containers, treatment units, and tanks; and blankets. The DART is planning to provide additional commodities as needs are identified. A spreadsheet of all DART commodities, both planned and delivered, is available from the Response Management Team in Washington, rmt_gulf@ofda.net. End Summary. ------------ MEDICAL KITS ------------ 2. The DART provided three medical kits to the U.K.'s Department for International Development for distribution in Basrah. The 3 kits, valued at USD 13,308, are estimated to serve a population of 30,000 for 90 days. 3. The DART also supplied one medical kit to the Dhi Qar Governorate Health Authority. The kit is valued at USD 4,436 and will serve a population of 10,000 for 90 days. 4. The DART provided five medical kits, valued at USD 22,180, to U.S. military forces for distribution in Al Kut, Baghdad, Samawah, and Umm Qasr. These five kits will serve a total population of 40,000 for 90 days. 5. The DART provided 3 medical kits to the non-governmental organization (NGO) International Medical Corps (IMC) for distribution in Al Kut. The kits, valued at USD 13,308, will serve a population of 30,000 for 90 days. 6. The DART provided 2 medical kits to the NGO Mercy Corps International for distribution in Arbil. The kits, valued at USD 8,872, will serve a population of 20,000 for 90 days. 7. The DART also supplied one medical kit to the NGO World Vision International for distribution in Ar Rutbah. The kit is valued at USD 4,436 and will serve a population of 10,000 for 90 days. 8. The DART also supplied ten medical kits to the NGO GOAL for distribution in An Nasiriyah. The kits are valued at USD 44,360 and will serve a population of 100,000 for 90 days. ------------------- CHRONIC MEDICATIONS ------------------- 9. The DART provided, with the assistance of Coalition Forces, the following chronic medications to the hospital and primary health center in Umm Qasr: Aminophylline 100mg (4,000 tablets), Beclometasone Inhaler (70), Digoxin 0.25mg (3,000 tablets), Hydrochlorothiazide 50mg (11,000 tablets), Isophane (NPH) Insulin (120 vials), Actropid (REG) Insulin (30 vials), Monotard Zinc Insulin (20 vials), Salbutamol 4mg (8,000 tablets), Salbutomol Inhaler (110), and Insulin Syringes (3,600). These medications were valued at USD 2,992. 10. The DART provided, and IMC distributed, the following chronic medications in An Nasiriyah: Aminophylline 100mg (20,000 tablets), Beclometasone Inhaler (230), Digoxin 0.25mg (57,000 tablets), Hydrochlorothiazide 50mg (85,000 tablets) Isophane (NPH) Insulin (380 vials), Actropid (REG) Insulin (470 vials), Monotard Zinc Insulin (480 vials), Salbutamol Inhaler (210), and Insulin Syringes (3,600). These medications were valued at USD 19,598. 11. The DART provided, and IMC distributed, the following chronic medications in the Al Kut and Al Amarah areas: Aminophylline 100mg (20,000 tablets), Beclometasone Inhaler (300), Digoxin 0.25mg (60,000 tablets), Hydrochlorothiazide 50mg (73,000 tablets), Isophane (NPH) Insulin (1,500 vials), Actropid (REG) Insulin (3,000 vials), Monotard Zinc Insulin (1,500 vials), Prednisolone 5mg (150,000 tablets), Salbutomol 4mg (121,000 tablets), Salbutomol Inhaler (660), and Insulin Syringes (18,000). These medications were valued at USD 84,423. 12. The DART provided, and GOAL distributed, the following chronic medications in the Dhi Qar and Al Muthanna Provinces. Aminophylline 100mg (41,000 tablets), Beclometasone Inhaler (300), Digoxin 0.25 (60,000 tablets), Hydrochlorothiazide 50mg (53,000 tablets), Isophane (NPH) Insulin (500 vials), Actropid (REG) Insulin (500 vials), Monotard Zinc Insulin (500 vials), Prednisolone 5mg (150,000 tablets), Salbutomol 4mg (129,000 tablets), Salbutomol Inhaler (330), and Insulin Syringes (10,800). These medications were valued at USD 24,107. ------------ HYGIENE KITS ------------ 13. The DART provided 5,004 hygiene kits to the NGO American Refugee Committee (ARC) for distribution in Basrah. The kits, valued at USD 30,024, will serve 37,530 beneficiaries. 14. The DART also provided 15,000 hygiene kits to CARE for distribution in Baghdad. The kits, valued at USD 90,000 will serve 112,500 beneficiaries. 15. The DART provided 3,080 hygiene kits to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for beneficiaries in Ruwayshid. These kits, valued at USD 18,480, will serve 23,100 beneficiaries. 16. The DART provided 2,004 hygiene kits to the NGO Ockenden International for distribution in Al Amarah. The kits, valued at USD 12,024, will serve 15,030 beneficiaries. ---------------- PLASTIC SHEETING ---------------- 17. The DART provided 50 rolls of plastic sheeting to ARC to serve vulnerable populations in Basrah. The plastic sheeting, valued at USD 12,500, will serve 1,875 beneficiaries. -------------------------------------------- WATER CONTAINERS, TREATMENT UNITS, AND TANKS -------------------------------------------- 18. The DART provided 4,000 ten-liter water containers to Ockenden International for beneficiaries in Al Amarah. The water containers, valued at USD 5,000 will serve 15,000 beneficiaries. 19. The DART provided 20,000 ten-liter water containers to IMC for beneficiaries in An Nasiriyah. The water containers, valued at USD 16,000, will serve 75,000 beneficiaries. 20. The DART also provided two water treatment units, valued at USD 70,000, to IMC to serve residents of An Nasiriyah. 21. The DART provided ten water bladders, valued at USD 27,000, to IMC for the residents of An Nasiriyah. -------- BLANKETS -------- 22. The DART provided 2,000 blankets to ARC for residents of Basrah.
