UNCLAS AMMAN 002092 SIPDIS PARIS FOR US OBSERVER MISSION TO UNESCO E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: AORC, JO, UNESCO SUBJECT: JORDAN WILL SUPPORT U.S. CANDIDACY TO UNESCO REF: (A) STATE 54900 (B) STATE 75379 1.(U) On April 2, Poloff conveyed ref a dipnote and talking points to the Jordanian MFA, announcing the U.S.'s intention to re-enter UNESCO on October 1 and seeking support for the U.S. candidacy to UNESCO's Executive Board. On April 7, Jusuf Bataineh of the MFA's International Organizations department verbally informed poloff that Jordan would support the U.S. candidacy. He said that a dipnote formally announcing this GOJ decision would be delivered shortly. GNEHM
