(C) Polchief shared reftel demarche with Marwan Al-Sha'ali, the special assistant to MFA Assistant U/S for Political Affairs Abdullah Rashid Al-Nuaimi on March 22. Al-Sha'ali noted that the MFA had not received any indications of attempts to stir up the issue of Iraq in the General Assembly, but promised to brief our demarche to higher-ups at the Ministry. 3. (C) Comment: The UAEG shares our concerns about the need to keep the Iraq issue in the SC and will do its part to ensure that any attempts to raise in the General Assembly or other fora go nowhere.
