1. (S/NF) In his March 19 conversation with King Abdullah
and GID Director Saad Kheir, the Ambassador conveyed USG
concerns regarding the presence of Iraqi personnel in Jordan,
and the King promised to take all necessary actions to
protect American and Jordanian interests from a possible
Iraqi threat (ref b).
2. (S) A/DCM on March 20 conveyed to Ali al-Ayed, Personal
Assistant to Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher, ref a question
regarding the willingness of Jordan to provide protecting
consular services to Iraqi nationals. Al-Ayed responded
immediately that Jordan would not/not be interested in
providing such services.
