UNCLAS DJIBOUTI 001212 SIPDIS STATE FOR ISN/CB (ESIDLER), AF, AND AF/E AMEMBASSY THE HAGUE FOR CWC DEL E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PARM, PREL, CN, DJ, CWC SUBJECT: DJIBOUTI RESPONSE TO CWC DEMARCHE REF: STATE 00217738 1. (U) Pol/Econ delivered demarche 7 December per reftel to Mohamed Omar Djama, Chief of Americas/Europe Office of Bilateral Relations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Djama responded that Djibouti has shown its willingness to work against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction through its signature of the Ottawa Convention on Small Arms. He said also that Djibouti is sending a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the conference scheduled for 10 December in Namibia. Djama said Djibouti is working on a policy to address the issue of weapons within its borders.
