US embassy cable - 05PRETORIA4817

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. Post has delivered the subject demarche to the
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of
Agriculture (DAg), and Department of Environmental Affairs
and Tourism (DEAT). DAg has not responded. The DFA advises
that the knowledgeable people in DFA are currently in
Montreal at the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto
Protocol. The DFA suggests the U.S delegation contact the
South African delegation at that meeting.

2. DEAT has informed us that the person responsible for
this issue is currently on TDY outside the country. As soon
as he returns, DEAT will contact us with their response.
