US embassy cable - 05PORTAUPRINCE2964

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: Haiti: Inflation continues in October

According to just-released figures from the Haitian
Statistical Institute, overall inflation for October 2005
was 0.94 percent (a yearly rate of 11.8 percent).
Inflation for the past 12 months was 14.9 percent. Much of
October's rise was due to increases in rent and utilities,
which were up 4.4 percent for the month. The politically
sensitive price of food rose a modest 0.3 percent. The
inflation target in Haiti's new IMF program, EPCA II, which
began on October 1, is 10.0 percent.
