Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS KUWAIT 004884 SIPDIS SIPDIS FOR NEA/ARPI, LONDON FOR TSOU, PARIS FOR ZEYA E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PGOV, PREL, PTER, PHUM, KISL, SOCI, KU SUBJECT: KUWAITI AUTHORITIES CRACK DOWN ON "DOOR-TO-DOOR JIHAD;" ARREST FIVE FOREIGN PREACHERS 1. Local Arabic daily Al-Seyassah reported November 22 that five extremist preachers -- three Egyptians and two Indonesians -- were arrested November 21 "for spreading the doctrine of the terror group al-Qaeda among the inhabitants of a Kuwaiti city." The paper reported that they went from door-to-door, talking to citizens on the importance of Jihad (holy war) and the necessity to re-establish Shari'a (Islamic law) in the world. The five preachers held the impromptu religious lessons on Jihad until they were arrested by Kuwaiti police. Kuwaiti security services are trying to determine how they entered Kuwait and whether they had any direct contacts with terrorist groups in Iraq. 2. The arrests come on the heels of recent efforts to curb extremist ideology, including conferences in Kuwait and European capitals. ********************************************* Visit Kuwait's Classified Website: http://www.state.sgov.gov/p/nea/kuwait/ You can also access the site through the State Department's Classified SIPRNET website ********************************************* TUELLER
