Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS LIMA 005008 SIPDIS DEPT FOR WHA/AND-FIFE AND USOAS-GARCIA E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PTER, EAID, CO, PE, OAS SUBJECT: PERU ON SEEKING SUPPORT FOR OAS COLOMBIA MISSION REF: STATE 207705 D/Polcouns presented the demarche on contributing to the OAS Mission in Colombia to Foreign Ministry Multilateral Political and Security Affairs Director Julio Garro on 11/23. Garro noted that Peru had been a strong supporter of this OAS Mission when it was first proposed, and continued to believe in the fundamental importance of the demobilization process. He said that the U.S. points in support of the Colombia Mission would receive due consideration within the Ministry, but that there was little funding currently available to support this type of initiative, and he sincerely doubted that Peru would be able to contribute either funding or personnel. Post will stay in contact with Garro, and will advise if there is any change in the prospects for a Peruvian contribution. STRUBLE
