UNCLAS GEORGETOWN 001211 SIPDIS ECA/A WHA/PDA - Neil Klopfenstein, Elizabeth Detter and Audrey Pruitt E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: OEXC, OIIP, CVIS, KPAO, GY SUBJECT: Embassy Georgetown International Education Week Activities 1. On November 14 and November 15, 2005 Consular Officers and Post's Education Advisor spoke with students at three Georgetown high schools about the benefits of study in the U.S. and the general qualifications for a student visa. The Education Advisor presented information on the variety of educational choices the U.S. offers, admission requirements and financial aid opportunities. Officers from the Consular Section spoke about visa requirements for students and used the CA produced presentation titled, "Attracting International Students and the Changing U.S. Visa Process." There was a question and answer session after each presentation that allowed students to ask questions about the U.S. higher education system and visa requirements. 2. This activity addressed Post's goal of consular outreach by providing accurate visa information to students who are considering study in the U.S. It addressed the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs' goal of highlighting the benefits of international study and promoting understanding of U.S. educational opportunities by emphasizing the various programs of study in the U.S. BULLEN
