US embassy cable - 05SOFIA1889

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: BULGARIAN FIRST LADY'S LETTER TO MRS. BUSH

 1. Bulgarian President Parvanov's Foreign Policy Advisor,
Mr. Zlatin Trapkov, requested a meeting November 4 to deliver
a copy of a letter from Mrs. Zorka Parvanova, Bulgaria's
First Lady, to Mrs. Laura Bush. Below is the text of the
letter.

2. BEGIN TEXT:
Dear Laura,
Please, accept my most sincere thanks for the warm
welcome we received during our visit to Washington, DC.
I was strongly impressed by the beautiful architecture
and the wealth of the Library of Congress collection. I am
grateful to our kind host there, Dr. Billington, for the
pleasant surprise he gave me by showing me some Bulgarian
publications.
It was a singular delight to talk with you on a range of
subjects during the lovely lunch. It felt so gratifying to
find out that we engage in so many similar activities and
have similar preoccupations.
Thanks you once again for your support for the Bulgarian
libraries, which hopefully they will continue to enjoy in
future.
President Parvanov joins me in taking this opportunity
to congratulate you on your birthday. We wish you and your
family a lot of good health, good luck and every success!

Most sincerely,
Zorka Parvanova

P.S. We are sure that the Bulgarian puppy is feeling fine
with you and we hope he is not too much trouble!
