US embassy cable - 05WELLINGTON860

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: NEW ZEALAND'S POSITION ON INFANT FORMULA STANDARDS
FOR CODEX MEETING

REF: STATE 202287

Post on November 4 delivered reftel non-paper to Jenny Reid,
assistant director of New Zealand Food Safety Authority's
Food Standards Group. Reid reported that New Zealand shares
the U.S. position on the use of a risk-based approach to
setting maximum limits on nucleotides in infant formula. New
Zealand will support the maximum level of 16mg/100 kcal. It
also will continue to work closely with the U.S. delegation
to make progress on the infant formula standard.
