Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: APPEAL FOR PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
REF: A. STATE 2000915
B. CAIRO 8163
Citing the pressing humanitarian nature of the Pakistan
earthquake relief effort, the Ambassador pressed Minister of
Defense Field Marshal Tantawi on November 2 to seriously
consider Centcom's request for MI-17 helicopter parts in
support of the relief effort. Tantawi responded
sympathetically and promised to look into the matter
immediately. Post is also continuing to stress the need for
additional support (Ref A) and will report any substantive
response after the local Eid al Fitr holiday (November 6).
