UNCLAS CAIRO 008398 SIPDIS EB/CIP E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ECPS, EG, ITU SUBJECT: EGYPT TO BACK USG ON SINGLE MEMBER STATE VETO ISSUE IN GENEVA REF: STATE 197285 Econoff today spoke with the Director of International Relations for the GOE Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, per reftel demarche, asking whether the GOE will support the U.S. position on the Single Member State Veto issue at the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group meeting in Geneva next week. The Director confirmed that the GOE plans to send a representative from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to Geneva, who will be prepared, in accordance with the demarche request, to back the U.S. position.
