C O N F I D E N T I A L AMMAN 008526 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 10/29/2015 TAGS: PREL, IZ, JO SUBJECT: JORDAN READY TO SEND AMBASSADOR TO IRAQ Classified By: Charge d'Affaires David Hale for reasons 1.4 (b) and (d) . 1. (C) Jordan,s ambassador should be able to present his credentials in Baghdad soon, according to Dimai Haddad, head of Foreign Minister Kasrawi's private office. Haddad told Polcouns October 30 that Ambassador Ahmad Salameh Al-Lawzi must first swear an oath before King Abdullah, a ceremony which Haddad hopes will take place before the Eid, and that al-Lawzi would travel to Iraq "a few days" after that. Haddad would remain less than a week, return to Amman, and later return permanently to Baghdad, once long-term lodging and office space were arranged. 2. (C) Haddad confirmed that Iraqi PM Jaafari, during his October 27 meetings in Amman, had discussed permanent lodgings and office space for Al-Lawzi in the International Zone. Haddad said the GOJ would be following up on the ITG,s offer, and that he expected the arrangement would be made final after Al-Lawzi presents his credentials. HALE
