US embassy cable - 05AMMAN8526

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (C) Jordan,s ambassador should be able to present his
credentials in Baghdad soon, according to Dimai Haddad, head
of Foreign Minister Kasrawi's private office. Haddad told
Polcouns October 30 that Ambassador Ahmad Salameh Al-Lawzi
must first swear an oath before King Abdullah, a ceremony
which Haddad hopes will take place before the Eid, and that
al-Lawzi would travel to Iraq "a few days" after that.
Haddad would remain less than a week, return to Amman, and
later return permanently to Baghdad, once long-term lodging
and office space were arranged.

2. (C) Haddad confirmed that Iraqi PM Jaafari, during his
October 27 meetings in Amman, had discussed permanent
lodgings and office space for Al-Lawzi in the International
Zone. Haddad said the GOJ would be following up on the
ITG,s offer, and that he expected the arrangement would be
made final after Al-Lawzi presents his credentials.
