C O N F I D E N T I A L AMMAN 008455 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 10/25/2015 TAGS: KTIA, PARM, PREL, JO, CWC SUBJECT: JORDAN: CHEMICAL WEAPONS CONVENTION PROPOSED DISCUSSIONS REF: STATE 191328 Classified By: DCM Daniel Rubinstein for reasons 1.4 (b) and (d) (C) Poloffs delivered reftel talking points to acting chief of the Foreign Ministry's International Organizations and Foreign Relations Department (IROD), Jamal Al-Shamayleh, on October 19. Shamayleh said he would study our proposal to hold expert-level CWC discussions at The Hague during the Conference of State parties November 7-11. On October 26, Shamayleh and Khaled Al-Takhayneh (also from IROD) told Poloff that Jordan would not have anyone at The Hague who could address the CWC, and requested that further CWC discussions be carried out during the week of December 12 in Amman as suggested reftel.
