(SBU) Pol/Econ chief October 23 delivered reftel demarche concerning contributions to Pakistan earthquake relief and rehabilitation to MFA Assistant Under Secretary for Coordination and Follow Up Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. Shaikh Abdul Aziz was grateful for information on the Geneva donors conference on October 26 and said he would inform the Foreign Minister of the substance of the demarche. 2. (U) The Bahraini press has provided heavy coverage of the U.S. Navy airlifting some $3 million in supplies for earthquake relief in Pakistan. The aid consists of tents, beds, heaters, blankets, bed sheets, generators, medical aid, and food. The package was put together following GOB talks with Pakistani Embassy officials on what was needed most. MONROE
