UNCLAS RABAT 002173 SIPDIS SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: EFIN, PREL, UNSC, MO, IZ SUBJECT: IRAQI ASSETS UPDATE On October 17, EconCouns met with Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief of Juridical Affairs and Treaties Azzouz Aboulkouroum regarding the recovery of Iraqi assets in Morocco. In June and July Econoffs had provided Aboulkouroum with very specific account information for groups and individuals identified under UNSCR 1483. Aboulkouroum confirmed that he had "relaunched" an interagency effort to resolve any outstanding Iraqi asset issues, sharing the information with, inter alia, the Ministries of Finance, Interior, and Justice, and the central bank. He was awaiting final definitive reports from these Moroccan government entities before preparing a comprehensive response for the Embassy. RILEY
