US embassy cable - 05BANGKOK6627

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

On October 19, diplomatic note and talking points contined in
reftel were delivered to MFA Director of Development Affairs,
Ms. Angsana Sihatitak She immediately passed these on to the
MFA Permanent Secretary. We were advised the morning of
October 20 that MFA has sent a cable to their UNESCO
delegation "recommending" they make a statement supporting
the view that the UNESCO Convention can not be used to
restrict trade or the free flow of information. Angsana told
us that "the U.S. concern in this regard is also a concern of
my government."
