UNCLAS BANGKOK 006627 SIPDIS PARIS FOR UNESCO E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ETRD, PHUM, SCUL, TH, UNESCO SUBJECT: THAILAND TO MAKE SUPPORTIVE STATEMENT AT UNESCO REF: SECSTATE 192656 On October 19, diplomatic note and talking points contined in reftel were delivered to MFA Director of Development Affairs, Ms. Angsana Sihatitak She immediately passed these on to the MFA Permanent Secretary. We were advised the morning of October 20 that MFA has sent a cable to their UNESCO delegation "recommending" they make a statement supporting the view that the UNESCO Convention can not be used to restrict trade or the free flow of information. Angsana told us that "the U.S. concern in this regard is also a concern of my government." BOYCE
