UNCLAS AMMAN 008215 SIPDIS PARIS FOR UNESCO E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ETRD, PREL, SCUL, JO, UNESCO SUBJECT: URGENT DEMARCHE DELIVERED REF: STATE 189518 Econ Counselor delivered Commerce Secretary Gutierrez's letter and talking points on UNESCO's cultural diversity convention to Jordan's Minister of Industry and Trade, Sharif Al Zu'bi, on October 17, urging him to consider the U.S. points and to pass instructions to the Jordanian delegation to UNESCO in Paris. The Minister agreed to review the points, but made no further comment. A copy of the letter and related points were also delivered to the private office of Foreign Minister Farouq Kasrawi, following up an earlier demarche to the MFA (Amman 08024). RUBINSTEIN
