Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

C O N F I D E N T I A L AMMAN 006609 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 11/12/2007 TAGS: PREL, ETRD, PHUM, JO, CU, UNGA SUBJECT: CUBA/UNGA: DEMARCHE DELIVERED TO JORDAN REF: STATE 223006 Classified By: Political Counselor Doug Silliman. Reasons 1.5 (b,d). 1. (U) On November 11, Poloff conveyed reftel demarche urging Jordan to oppose, or at least abstain on, Cuba's anti-embargo UNGA resolution to Ayman Aamiri, Deputy Director of the MFA's IO Department. Aamiri promised that the MFA would review the information we provided and share it with Jordan's Mission in New York as well. He noted, however, that Jordan, historically, has always voted for the Cuba resolution and expected it would do so again this year. 2. (C) The Ambassador later took advantage of a meeting with Foreign Minister Muasher to raise the issue with him. Muasher undertook to look into the matter, including the possibility of a shift in the traditional Jordanian position. GNEHM
