UNCLAS DUBLIN 001239 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL, EAID, PHUM, PREF SUBJECT: IRELAND SUPPORTS DARFUR INITIATIVES ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN REF: SECSTATE 172323 On September 23, emboff delivered reftel talking points to Department of Foreign Affairs Africa section First Secretary Pat Kelly and Development Cooperation Ireland First Secretary Ciara O'Brien. Both Kelly and O'Brien said that the GOI is in full agreement with the USG on the importance of supporting programs that stop violence against women and girls in Darfur. They also echoed full support for women's treatment centers in IDP camps. O'Brien said that in April she met with USAID workers in Khartoum to discuss programs and coordination efforts. She wants to expand on those discussions and added that the GOI is very interested in seeing concrete proposals and details of the requested support for such programs. KENNY
