(C) DCM discussed reftel request with MFA Director of Cabinet Pierre Vimont, September 16. Vimont said the GOF would "study" the request and promised a rapid response. Vimont said that, if France were in principle able to accept some/all of the Uighurs, it would be helpful to have more detailed information on their origin, whether any had expressed an interest in coming to France, whether if so they anticipated seeking political asylum here, and any information the USG could provide about the circumstances of their capture and detention. 2.
