UNCLAS ANKARA 005416 SIPDIS DEPT FOR ISN/RA E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: EFIN, ETTC, MNUC, PARM, PGOV, PREL, TU SUBJECT: EXECUTIVE ORDER BLOCKING PROPERTY OF WMD PROLIFERATORS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS DELIVERED REF: STATE 120771 EXBS Advisor delivered reftel non-paper and talking points to MFA Head of Department for Arms Control and Disarmament Osman Yavuzalp on July 1, 2005. Yavuzalp thanked us for the information concerning the executive order and the additional information. Yavuzalp added that Turkey is a strong supporter in all efforts to stop the proliferation of items that could assist in the development of Weapons of Mass Destruction. While Yavuzalp would not comment on the technical aspects of the non-paper and talking points, he assured EXBS Advisor that the information would be passed to all relevant sections of MFA and other government organizations to appropriate action. Finally, Yavuzalp stated that he looks forward to the future exchange of information concerning these companies, so that Turkey could take appropriate action as allowed under Turkish law. MCELDOWNEY
