Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS AMMAN 006227 SIPDIS SENSITIVE E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PARM, PREL, JO, UNGA SUBJECT: 57TH UNFC: DEMARCHE ON IRAQ'S DEPLETED URANIUM RESOLUTION DELIVERED TO JORDAN REF: STATE 209797 (SBU) On October 24, PolCouns and Poloff delivered reftel demarche on Iraq's DU resolution to Ayman Aamiri, Deputy Director of the MFA's IO Department. Aamiri noted that in 2001 Jordan had voted for the resolution in the First Committee, but then abstained in the final UNGA vote. PolCouns underlined that, this year as last year, the U.S. viewed the Iraqi resolution as a transparent propaganda ploy, that the scientific evidence on the subject has already been clearly established, and that we want to see the matter settled in the UNFC vote. To that end, we hoped Jordan could oppose the resolution in the UNFC. Aamiri promised to convey our points to Jordan's Mission in New York. GNEHM
