Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS AMMAN 006226 SIPDIS SENSITIVE E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PHUM, US, JO SUBJECT: DOPCAT DEMARCHE DELIVERED: JORDAN WILL ALLY ITSELF WITH U.S. POSITION REF: STATE 206414 1. (SBU) On October 24, PolCouns and Poloff delivered reftel demarche on the Draft Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (DOPCAT) to Samer Naber, the MFA's Legal Advisor. Naber welcomed the points saying that Jordan had its own reservations about the DOPCAT and how it had been handled in the working group. The MFA, Naber noted, following his own recommendation, had already sent instructions to its Mission in New York to coordinate with USUN and "ally itself with the U.S. position." GNEHM
