UNCLAS BRATISLAVA 000728 SIPDIS STATE FOR TFUS01 AND EUR/NCE E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: AEMR, EAID, PREL, LO SUBJECT: TFUS01: ACCEPTANCE OF SLOVAK OFFER OF HURRICANE KATRINA ASSISTANCE REF: SECSTATE 166969 1. Post conveyed reftel acceptance of Slovakia's offer of Hurricane Katrina assistance (25,000 blankets, 500 camp beds, 1,000 first aid kits, and 600 liters of liquid soap) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the morning of September 10. 2. The GOS has designated the following English speaking points-of-contact for Hurricane Katrina assistance coordination: Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Mr. Milan Vojtko Fifth Territorial Division (Americas Desk) Office: 421 2 5978 3774 E-mail: milan vojtko@foreign.gov.sk Ministry of Interior: Mr. Milan Komzik Director Operations Center Civil Protection Bureau Office: 421 2 4859 3307 Mobile: 421 905 657 235 3. According to Mr. Vojtko, a truck containing the Slovak assistance contribution is scheduled to depart Bratislava en route to Ramstein AB, Germany, at 22h00 local time Tuesday, September 13. The truck will be escorted by Mr. Komzik, and we understand that the Slovak Consul from Bonn will meet the items at Ramstein to officially hand them over. The Embassy does not yet know when the assistance will depart Ramstein via air for CONUS. 4. Embassy POC is Brian McCollum, Operations Coordinator in the Defense Attache's Office.
