US embassy cable - 05YEREVAN1665

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (SBU) The Government of the Republic of Armenia
is withdrawing any and all requests for an A2 visa
for Vardan Barseghyan, representative of the
"Nagorno Karabakh Republic." Instead Barseghyan
and his wife will apply in person for B1/B2 visas
on Monday September 19.

2. (SBU) In withdrawing the A2 applications, the
MFA stresses that their primary concern is that
Barseghyan and his family not be turned back at the
port of entry. Post agreed to make every effort
behind the scenes to smooth the way with Dulles
CBP.
