UNCLAS ALGIERS 001917 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: EAGR, EAID, ECON, KSCA, PREL, SOCI, TBIO, AG SUBJECT: DEMARCHE DELIVERED ON AVIAN FLU PARTNERSHIP REF: STATE 164134 PolEc Chief passed reftel demarche points September 11 to Dr. Samia Amrani, head of sanitary control for the avian flu at the Ministry of Health. Amrani held a coordinating meeting September 12 to discuss the U.S. proposal that Algeria join an international partnership. She informed PolEc Chief shortly after the meeting that an approval from the Minister of Health was required before she could respond officially to the U.S. initiative. Post will report the Ministry's response as soon as we receive it. ERDMAN
