Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: TAIWAN EXPORT CONTROL QUICK RESPONSE TIMES
REF: NP DRAFT TAIWAN LICENSE REVIEW PROCEDURE OF
8/30/05
Classified By: AIT Acting Director David Keegan, Reason 1.4 b/d
(C) Action Request: Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade Export
Control Task Force Head Wally Su contacted AIT on September
12 to ask if, under the quick response mechanism developed to
expedite U.S. comments on Taiwan
export/re-export/transit/transshipment licenses, it would be
possible for the U.S. to provide a response within one week.
Su is now preparing the official Taiwan public announcement
on the new procedures, and needs this additional information
for the announcement. Su also a.) asked what would be the
average time required for a U.S. reply; b.) what BOFT should
do if there was no U.S. response within the agreed timeframe;
and c.) if the U.S. needs more time to provide a response,
would it send an explanation of why it needed more time? AIT
requests Washington guidance on how to respond to these
questions.
