US embassy cable - 05ASUNCION1129

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. Post received the following additional information on the
offer of chemical products to support Hurricane Katrina
relief efforts: Esteban Morabito, President of M.A.A.H.S.A,
a chemical production company, has offered to send a large
quantity of chemical products for pest control to assist with
relief efforts. Morabito is offering to donate 6,000 units
of Mapex Aerosol Amarillo 330ml, an insecticide to control
flies, mosquitoes, and other flying insects. The product is
a non-toxic pyrethroid-based insecticide. Morabito is
prepared to send 63 corrugated cardboard boxes with 96 units
each, weighing 2,056.88 kilograms (4,525 lbs).

2. Since Morabito does not speak English, he asks that any
further questions be relayed through Post. Political
Officer, Susan Sutter, is Embassy Asuncion's Point of Contact
on this matter. Her office phone number is
011-595-21-213-715, Ext. 2286; her cell phone number is
011-595-971-202-100; her email is sutterss@state.gov.
