US embassy cable - 02ABUJA2856

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (C) During an October 9 conversation on Cote d'Voire
(REF A), Ambassador Jeter reminded ECOWAS ExecSec Chambas
of our request for a public statement clarifying ECOWAS'
position on allegations in the draft military assessment
team's report on Liberia. More specifically, he asked
ECOWAS to confirm publicly that it did not endorse the
false rumors contained in the draft report alleging U.S.
and UK support to the LURD (REF B). Chambas thanked
Ambassador Jeter for the reminder and said he still planned
to attend to our request.
