On August 22, 2005 AgAtt conveyed reftel demarche to Isabel Cristina Araya, Technical Secretary of the National CODEX Committee. 2. By means of a letter dated August 29, 2005, Ms. Araya indicated that Costa Rica would not be represented at the CODEX Intergovernmental Task Force on Biotechnology in Chibas, Japan, September 19-23, due to a lack of resources. She further indicated that she was arranging for Costa Rica to be represented at the task force meeting by an officer from the Costa Rican embassy in Japan, who would be provided with Costa Rica's positions on the issues that will arise at the meeting. Lastly, she added that Costa Rica's representative would be pleased to share Costa Rica's position with the United States. FRISBIE
