SUBJECT: PRESENTATION OF DRAFT IRAQI CONSTITUTION: JORDAN

1. On August 29 Charge made points contained in ref A to
royal court policy director Abdullah Woreikat, who said the
GOJ would seriously consider making public statements
welcoming the continuation of the process that produced the
draft constitution. Acting PolCouns delivered ref A talking
points August 29 to Eihab Omaish, Acting Director of the
Foreign Minister's private office, and urged the GOJ to
publicly support the political process in Iraq. Omaish noted
that Jordan would continue its efforts to assist in the
reconstruction of Iraq, and said he would immediately forward
the points and our request for a public statement to Foreign
Minister Kasrawi.
2. Per ref B, PAO is making the same points with selected
press contacts, and will meet August 30 with leading opinion
columnists to discuss the draft Iraqi constitution.
