Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (S) Post continues to press for Jordanian support on the
points made in paras 9 and 10 of ref A. On following up King
Abdullah's efforts to counter the message of extremist
tendencies in Islam, ref B outlines the King's ambitious
plans to keep up the momentum generated by the July 4-5 Amman
conference's denunciations of takfiri ideology. Charge is
engaged on this issue regularly with the King, Prince Ghazi,
and the Foreign Minister, and has discussed it with the Awqaf
and Religious Affairs Minister.
2. (S) On the flow of jihadists to Syria, ref C reports
post's engagement with the Foreign Ministry. Charge
reinforced with FM Kasrawi August 17 the need to keep up
pressure on Syria to change its behavior on this and other
points. Kasrawi confirmed that Jordan is pressing the SARG
to prove to the U.S. that it is ending behavior that
destabilizes the region. He said he would discuss with the
Prime Minister further steps that Jordan might take on this
point.
3. (S/NF) In parallel with our approaches to the Foreign
Ministry, the Jordanian General Intelligence Directorate
confirms to post that it remains focused on the jihadist
phenomenon, will continue to detain travelers passing through
Jordan who fit the jihadi profile, and block Jordanians who
appear to be following the same path.
