(SBU) MFA informed post via diplomatic note that it is nominating Asif Ali, BDG Comptroller and Auditor General, to the post of UNESCO External Auditor for the term 2006-2011. It sought USG support for Ali's candidacy, citing Bangladesh's membership in various UN and international auditing bodies, its Supreme Audit Institution's experience in auditing various international bodies, Bangladesh's election to a regional auditing organization, and Ali's experience in auditing several international organizations.
