Tighe, for reasons 1.5 (B) an d (D) (C) On June 30, Poloff delivered reftel talking points to Angella Brown, Deputy Director, International Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT). By phone on August 12, Brown told Poloff that the GOJ supports the Secretary General's reform proposal and is interested in replacing the Commission on Human Rights, but that it is currently focused on UN Security Council (UNSC) reform. Brown admitted that UNSC reform discussions are overshadowing other issues, and said that the GOJ would like to move beyond the UNSC and refocus its efforts on broader UN reform, including the Human Rights Council. Brown thanked poloff for the information, which she said is being used to prepare briefing papers for the upcoming General Assembly. TIGHE
