SUBJECT: EMBASSY AMMAN'S PARTICIPATION IN CAIRO CONFERENCE 
ON ENGAGING ISLAM

1.  Embassy Amman requests country clearance for Political 
Counselor Douglas A. Silliman and Public Affairs Officer 
Haynes Mahoney to participate in the Conference on Engaging 
Islam in Cairo October 2-3, 2002. 
 
2.  Mr. Silliman and Mr. Mahoney will arrive at Cairo 
International Airport (CAI)  on Tuesday, October 1 at 1130 on 
Royal Jordanian flight 505.  Please advise whether Embassy 
will meet and assist or whether Mr. Silliman and Mr. Mahoney 
will need to get a taxi in from the airport. 
 
Mr. Silliman will depart CAI on Friday, October 4 at 1230 on 
RJ flight 506. 
 
Mr. Mahoney will depart CAI on Saturday, October 5 at 1230 on 
RJ flight 506. 
 
Please make hotel reservations for Mr. Silliman for the 
nights of October 1-3.  Please make hotel reservations for 
Mr. Mahoney for the nights of October 1-4. 
 
3.  Embassy Amman will pay all expenses (travel and per diem) 
for Mr. Silliman's travel, as well as the expenses for Mr. 
Mahoney's travel and one additional day of per diem. 
 
4.  Mr. Silliman and Mr. Mahoney have Top Secret security 
clearances. 
 
5.  Mr. Silliman and Mr. Mahoney do not/not wish to be 
included in tour plans to the pyramids on the morning of 
October 2.
