Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

C O N F I D E N T I A L PARIS 005130 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 07/24/2014 TAGS: PTER, ETTC, PREL, FR, KFIN, UNSC SUBJECT: FRENCH WILL RAISE OBJECTIONS TO CHINESE REJECTION OF FATF REFERENCES REF: STATE 135839 Classified By: POLITICAL MINISTER-COUNSELOR JOSIAH ROSENBLATT, FOR REAS ONS 1.4 B/D (C) On July 22, we raised reftel demarche on Chinese objections to FATF references in the Counterterrorism Committee and the draft text of the 1267 successor resolution with Claudia Delmas-Scherer, the MFA's acting DAS-equivalent for Security. Delmas-Scherer said she was pleased to see that the U.S. was holding the line on Chinese objections. She said she would cable the French Embassy in Beijing July 22 to inform them of our demarche and to instruct them to make a similar demarche to the Chinese. She said the French demarche would focus on the fact that Chinese objections to FATF references are inconsistent with their application for full FATF membership. STAPLETON
