UNCLAS MASERU 000364 SIPDIS SENSITIVE FOR AF/S AND IO/PSC - LAURA MALENAS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL, KUNR, KPKO, UNSC, UNGA, ECOSOC SUBJECT: WAY-AHEAD FOR CREATING THE UN PEACEBUILDING COMMISSION REF: STATE 130530 1. (SBU) Ambassador delivered key points on the UN Peacebuilding Commission and discussed in detail the three (3) proposed resolutions with Lesotho's Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Minister Moleleki said that his government supported the idea of such a Commission. He went on to state his concern that Africa is in need of such a commission to address crises on the continent. He was in full support of the roles of the UNGA, Security Council and ECOSOC. He added further that Lesotho supports Secretary General Annan's overall recommendations on UN Reform and could be counted on during the upcoming September session of the General Assembly for their support.
