Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS ASUNCION 000889 SIPDIS STATE FOR WHA/BSC E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL, SCUL, PA, UNESCO SUBJECT: PARAGUAY: USG CANDIDACY FOR SEAT ON WORLD HERITAGE COMMITTEE REF: STATE 122739 On 7/8, PolCouns discussed with the MFA's Director of International Organizations, Julio Peralta, support for the U.S. candidacy to the World Heritage Committee. Peralta noted that Paraguay needed to develop a payment plan to cancel approximately USD 300,000 in arrears to UNESCO before it could reclaim its voting privileges. He anticipated Paraguay would reclaim this privilege in time to vote. He appreciated the expertise the U.S. brought to this committee. Paraguay had been approached by other States but had not yet made any decision regarding its vote. He promised to give the U.S. Paraguay's fullest consideration. KEANE
