Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS YEREVAN 001203 SIPDIS SENSITIVE DEPT FOR EUR/CACEN, IO E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: KUNR, PREL, PGOV, AORC, AM, UNSC SUBJECT: UN REFORM: PROMOTING OUR PRIORITIES - DEMARCHE DELIVERED REF: STATE 111637 1. (U) Sensitive But Unclassified. Treat Accordingly. 2. (SBU) We delivered demarche and talking points regarding USG reform priorities at the United Nations on June 21 to MFA International Organizations Department Chief Valery Mkrtumyan per reftel instructions. We followed up with Mkrtumyan during a meeting at the Embassy on July 1. During both conversations, Mkrtumyan said that the GOAM did not foresee any "disconnects" between the USG and GOAM policies on UN issues but would not commit to voting more closely with the USG than in past years. Mkrtumyan indicated that Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian's heavy travel schedule, together with his absence from Yerevan June 22-June 30, made it difficult for the GOAM to react fully to our policy priorities. He said he had instructed Mher Markaryan, newly appointed UN Desk Officer, to forward formal reaction to our talking points by mid-July to the Embassy and to our mission in New York. We will forward additional reactions as they become available. EVANS
