US embassy cable - 05KINGSTON1672

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. On June 30, Poloff delivered reftel points by telephone
and fax to Angella Brown, Deputy Director, International
Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Foreign Trade (MFAFT). On August 1, Poloff called Brown for
a response. Brown thanked Poloff for providing the USG
position on UN Security Council reform, information which she
had explicitly requested at a previous meeting on May 6.
Brown added that the timing of the U.S. message was good,
because the GOJ had now received position papers from
"everyone," including China and the G-4 countries, whose
ambassadors had met earlier in the day with Foreign Minister
K.D. Knight. Brown said that the points had been used to
prepare the delegation traveling to St. Lucia on July 3, and
that the delegation would be briefed over the weekend.

2. Brown added that Post would receive a readout of the July
3-6 CARICOM Heads of Government conference when Minister
Knight meets with Charge. MFAFT informed Charge on July 5
that FM Knight had agreed to see him on July 7.
