1. (C) MFA AF PDAS-equivalent Elisabeth Barbier told Embassy
Africa watcher July 5 at the Ambassador's July 4th reception
that the GoF would approach the SAG to express concern about
former Haitian President Aristide's desire to return to Haiti.
2. (C) Africa watcher checked with Remi Marechaux,
DAS-equivalent for southern Africa July 6. Marechaux said
that the French Ambassador would be seeing the SAG's Americas
Department "in the coming days." Marechaux undertook to
inform us of the SAG's response.
